Buhari Mourns Death Of Former Naval Chief Ishaya Ibrahim

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences to the family of former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ishaya Iko Ibrahim (Rtd) who died on Tuesday in Abuja after a brief illness.

Buhari through a statement signed by his senior special assistant on media & publicity, Garba Shehu, said he joins friends and associates, especially the military, in mourning the passing of the late vice admiral Ibrahim.

The president observed that the naval officer through his meritorious service to the nation, left an indelible legacy of patriotism, gallantry, and loyalty in the defence sector which continues to inspire many officers.

He stated that Ibrahim’s contributions to the security structure and operations will always be remembered, particularly playing a significant role in counseling leaders after his retirement.

The President prayed that the Almighty God will receive the souls of departed former military officers, and comfort their families.

Ibrahim who was born on September 19, 1952 in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, joined the Nigerian Navy as a member of the 14th regular course.

He was Flag Officer Commanding, Naval training command and Naval western command from where he reached the peak of his military career with his appointment as Chief of Naval Staff in August 2008.
