According to a statement by Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina, Buhari has shared the joy of the memorable occasion with the family and friends of Etiaba, renowned educationist.

Adesina said Buhari rejoiced with the former Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, whose labour of love in the educational sector will always be remembered, working as a teacher for 35 years, before retiring to set up the equally renowned Bennet Etiaba Memorial Schools, in honour of her late husband BMC Etiaba Esq.

Known as Mama Anambra, Dame Virgy Etiaba‘s children are most distinguished in various professions including a son that has led the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland; two sons who are Senior Advocates of Nigeria; a world class Publisher; a top Diplomat and head of Private Banking in Nigeria.

Buhari noted the remarkable difference the former Governor made during her short stay in office, signing the Anambra State Child’s Rights Bill into law, and initiating major infrastructural projects, which earned her a reputation for being tenacious, resolute, and purposeful.

As Dame Etiaba celebrates another milestone, the President urged her to count God’s many blessings upon her life, and the good fortune of shaping lives as a professional teacher, before the larger political opportunity of sharing her compassion, competency, and exemplary leadership style.
