Brooklyn Beckham has publicly accused his parents, football icon David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, of years of emotional manipulation, media interference and actions aimed at undermining his marriage, marking a dramatic escalation in the long-running rift within the Beckham family.
In a lengthy statement posted on Instagram, on Monday, Brooklyn said he had remained silent for years in an effort to keep family matters private, but claimed he was forced to speak out after his parents and their representatives allegedly continued to brief the press with what he described as false narratives.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself.”
Join our WhatsApp ChannelBrooklyn, 26, rejected suggestions that he is being controlled by his wife, actress Nicola Peltz-Beckham, insisting instead that he is asserting his independence for the first time. He said he no longer wishes to reconcile with his family, adding that stepping away from them has brought him peace and relief from long-standing anxiety.
In the post, Brooklyn accused his parents of prioritising their public image and the “Brand Beckham” over genuine family relationships, alleging that family unity was often performative and driven by media optics, endorsements and social media appearances.
He made a series of specific allegations surrounding his 2022 wedding to Peltz-Beckham, claiming the conflict intensified during preparations for the ceremony. Brooklyn alleged that Victoria Beckham cancelled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress at short notice, forcing her to urgently find an alternative. He also claimed his parents pressured him, weeks before the wedding, to sign away rights to his name in a deal he said would have affected his wife and future children.

According to Brooklyn, his refusal to sign before the wedding led to a breakdown in their relationship. He further alleged that his mother described him as “evil” over seating arrangements that included elderly relatives without their spouses, and that members of his family told him on the eve of the wedding that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family.”
One of the most serious claims related to the wedding reception itself. Brooklyn alleged that his mother “hijacked” his planned first dance with his wife after singer Marc Anthony called him to the stage, saying Victoria Beckham danced with him instead in a manner he described as inappropriate and humiliating in front of hundreds of guests.
He said the incident was so distressing that he and his wife later decided to renew their vows in order to create happier memories of their wedding day.
Brooklyn also alleged that his wife has been repeatedly disrespected by his family, including claims that his mother invited women from his past into their lives in ways intended to make the couple uncomfortable. He further claimed his parents attempted to exclude Nicola from private family meetings, including an occasion in London during David Beckham’s birthday celebrations, where he said his father agreed to see him only if his wife was not present.
He alleged that subsequent attempts to meet during family visits to Los Angeles were also rebuffed.
In his statement, Brooklyn accused his parents of orchestrating private and public attacks against him, including claims that his brothers were encouraged to criticise him on social media before cutting off contact last summer.
Rejecting media narratives that portray Nicola as controlling, Brooklyn said the opposite was true. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he wrote, adding that since distancing himself from them, his anxiety has disappeared.
He concluded by saying that he and his wife want a life free from “image, press, or manipulation,” and are focused on peace, privacy and building a future family.
Neither David nor Victoria Beckham has directly responded to the allegations contained in the Instagram statement. However, David Beckham appeared to make a veiled reference to the controversy the following morning while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, where he remarked during a discussion on the misuse of social media that “children make mistakes.”
