Azplicueta Shuns Barcelona’s Advances, Commits Future To Chelsea

Aubameyang has become a subject of interest from Chelsea
August 4, 2022

Cesar Azplicueta on Thursday penned a new two-year contract extension at Chelsea until 2024 as the Stamford Bridge landlords desperately seek to improve on their defensive unit.

Azplicueta had attracted interest from Barcelona but unlike former teammate Andreas Christensen will not be moving back to Spain.

The right back reports emerged on Thursday personally called Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez to inform him that contrary to earlier plans, he will not be playing under him.

Barcelona has managed to hijack the deals of Raphinha and Joules Koundé from under the noses of Chelsea who showed strong interests in the players.

Chelsea however may be able to get one of Barcelona prized assets in striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal superstar might struggle for first team place at Barcelona with the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
