Announcing the result on Sunday, ANSIEC chairman, Genevieve Osakwe, said the commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure accuracy.

According to her the results for each position were announced at polling units and ward level.

Osakwe, who said the Saturday’s election was “free, fair and credible”, read out total scores of the APGA candidates, declaring them winners based on the highest votes cast.

“This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024,” Osakwe stated while announcing the results in Akwa, the state capital on Sunday evening.

“The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.

“We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”

This comes amid reports of low voter turnout and late arrival of ANSIEC ad-hoc staff and their voting materials in most polling units across the state which led to late commencement of voting exercise.

Prime Business Africa had reported that the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who exercised his Civic right of voting at his polling unit 002 in Ofuiyi Square, Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, said the election will be a test of his administration’s level of acceptance by the people.
