Anambra 2021: Ozigbo Applauds Appeal Court Judgment

PEOPLE’S Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the incoming Anambra election, Valentine Ozigbo has applauded the Appeal Court judgment on Friday that affirmed his candidacy for the party.

While hosting a gathering of prominent new media practitioners at Grand East Hotel, Awka, Ozigbo, commended the court for its decision, describing it as a victory for Ndi Anambra people.

He added that the judgment was “a necessary boost to give the party a new focus, drive, and direction.”

In the ruling on an appeal brought by Ozigbo and the PDP, a panel of justices led by Honourable Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, upheld the primary election conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP on June 26, 2021, at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, at which Ozigbo emerged as the winner.

The court consequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Ozigbo’s name in list of candidates for the election, and  also awarded N10 million damages against Ugochukwu Uba, the challenger.
