Akeredolu Death: Aiyedatiwa Declares Three Days Mourning

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared a three-day period of mourning in honor of the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, former Governor of Ondo State.

The announcement came through a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan on Wednesday evening.

The mourning period, marked by fasting and prayer, commenced on Thursday, December 28, and will extend until Saturday, December 30, 2023.

As a sign of respect, all national flags will be flown at half-mast for seven days to reflect the collective grief of the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has also suspended state government ceremonies during this period, recognizing the need for the community to come together in solidarity.

In addition, condolence registers have been opened at the Governor’s Office, Government House in Akure, and State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja to allow citizens to express their condolences.

The passing of the former governor has undoubtedly left a void in the hearts of the people of Ondo State. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s declaration of a mourning period underscores the deep sense of loss and provides an opportunity for the community to unite in remembering and honoring the contributions of the late leader.
