Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, Flamingos on Saturday evening defeated Galatasaray FC women’s first team 3-1 in a preparatory friendly game in Kocaeli ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India which starts

Opeyemi Ajakaye scored in the 26th minute while Etim Edidiong grabbed a brace in the 34th and 77th minutes in between Ebru Topliv’s 44th minute goal for the hosts.

The Flamingos who overcame Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate to reach the tournament in India will face Germany in their first World Cup game on October 11 in Goa at 4pm Nigerian time.

The team coached by Bankole Oluwokoore will then play against New Zealand and Chile in the other two matche on October 14th and 17th respectively.

The Nigerian team is expected to fly out to India next week Thursday, October 6.

Matches of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will hold at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
