Liverpool forward Sadio Mane could meet fellow Meseryside teammate Mohamed Salah in the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon if Egypt overcomes hosts Cameroon Thursday night.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 Wednesday to reach their second consecutive Africa Cup of Nations final and will face either Cameron or Egypt on Sunday evening at the Olembe stadium in Yaounde.

Sadio Mane’s late goal against a spirited Burkina Faso ensured his national team booked their place in the final. The Senegal number 10 also had an assist to boot in the semifinals game.

PSG duo of Abdou Diallo and Idrissa Gueye put Senegal in front in the second half before Blati Toure put one back for Burkina Faso late on with a fruituious touch of his knee.

Mane however made Sunday’s final a certainty for the west African country with three minutes to go by lofting the ball over a sprawling Burkina Faso goalkeeper.

It was Mane’s 29th goal for his country, taking him level with Henri Camara at the top of their all-time scorer list.

Senegal lost the 2019 final to Algeria.
