Abia Guber: S'Court Reserves Judgment In Appeals Against Otti

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeals by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the election of Alex Otti.

The five-member panel, chaired by John Okoro on Wednesday, heard arguments from the parties concerned before adjourning the cases for rulings.

The appeals filed by Okey Ahiwe, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Ikechi Emenike of the APC, were dismissed by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos.

Otti, a candidate of the Labour Party was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to INEC, Otti polled 175, 467 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Okey Ahiwe, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored  88,529 votes.
