Osimhen Nets Brace In Napoli’s First Win Of 2023/2024 Campaign

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen opened his goal account for the 2023/2024 Serie A season with a brace in Napoli’s 3-1 away win against Frosinone on Saturday evening.

Napoli went 1-0 down early in the game thanks to a 7th minute penalty converted by Abdou Harroui.

Matteo Politano restored parity on the 24th minute before Victor Osimhen gave the champions the lead on 42nd minute with a thunderous strike.

Frosinone were resolute to fight back but it was Osimhen who found the net again eleven minutes before full time when he beat the offside trap to slid the ball home after going past the goalkeeper.

The 2023 Serie A Golden Boot winner was subbed off in the 81st minute and the champions held on to record their first victory on the opening week of the new season.

Nigeria star Osimhen scored 26 goals as Napoli won the league title for the first time in 33 years.

Osi, but he turned down the offer equivalent of a N1b (one billion naira) every week.

Before the Saudi Arabian invasion into the European market, Osimhen drew interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Hot on the heels of the Nigerian marksman for the top scorer award early in the season is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez who also scored twice Saturday night in his club’s win over promoted side Monza.
