August 13, 2023

French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday morning confirmed Kylian Mbappé will be making his return back in the first-team squad after he was banished to train with the U-21 side.

However, he was back in first-team training on Sunday morning and the Telegraph report that he will not be leaving this summer, with growing optimism from the club that he will sign a new deal, meaning he would not be able to run his contract down and leave for free.

The France international of Cameroon descent had signed a new deal until 2024 with the option of a further year but has insisted that he is not keen to extend his contract.

Mbappé’s resolve to leave the club gave indication that he had agreed pre agreement with Real Madrid who have courted him for a few seasons.

PSG statement read:

“Following very constructive and positive discussions between PSG and Kylian Mbappé before the Lorient game, the player has been reinstated into the first team training squad this morning.”

The France star also didn’t take part in PSG’s pre-season tour of Asia and there had been suggestions that he would be made to stay away from the main group for the foreseeable future.

However, Mbappe will take part in first-team training on Sunday evening, with the session likely to be comprised of players who didn’t play significant minutes against Lorient.

Earlier this summer Mbappe turned down the chance to join Al-Hilal after the Saudi Arabian side made a world record bid of £259million.

The forward is likely to sign a new contract with the Paris billionaires to protect their interest although he is still expected to depart from the club for a likely move to Real Madrid.
