Its global earnings have soared beyond $900 million, and it is poised to join the prestigious billion-dollar club by Sunday or early next week. Holding its ground, Barbie maintained its number one position at the box office on Thursday, adding another $11.8 million to its already impressive collection.

Not to be outdone, Universal’s Oppenheimer is proving to be an unstoppable force, approaching the $500 million mark in global ticket sales.

In North America alone, it crossed the $200 million milestone on Thursday, securing a strong second-place finish with an additional $5.6 million for the day.

Amidst these record-breaking giants, there are two new nationwide offerings vying for audience attention this weekend. Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a reboot of the popular franchise, hit theaters on Wednesday, and its box office performance has been commendable.

Earning $4.9 million on Wednesday, the film’s two-day total stands at $15.1 million, which includes an impressive $3.9 million from Tuesday evening previews. The PG family-friendly movie is expected to debut in the range of $35 million over its five-day opening, though these figures may fluctuate as the weekend progresses.

Another highly anticipated film, New Line/Warner Bros.’ Meg 2: The Trench, made a splash in Thursday previews with $4 million in earnings. This action-packed shark thriller is tracking for a successful opening weekend, with box office experts projecting an impressive $25 million to $30 million debut.

As audiences return to theaters with increasing confidence, the competition among these blockbuster movies is heating up, resulting in a thrilling race to dominate the box office charts.

From iconic dolls to historical figures and mutant reptiles, the diversity of offerings promises something for everyone. Movie enthusiasts can expect nail-biting battles, jaw-dropping action, and heartwarming moments that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
