Super Eagles Depart For Monrovia In Chartered Flight

The Super Eagles will depart Lagos for Monrovia, Liberia’s capital, for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifying match against Sierra Leone on Saturday, June 17.

The team which has been in camp in Lagos since Monday will depart the shores of the country in a chartered flight through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos.

The three-time champions will pick a ticket to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivorie with a draw against the Leone Stars.

Guinea-Bissau are currently leading the Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign with 10 points, one place above Nigeria.

The Eagles had a closed door training session on Friday at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium. The training began at 4.15pm with the media barred from covering the session as the team intensify last gasp preparations for Sunday’s game.

The 34th edition of the biennial AFCON will start on January 13 through 11 February next year.

The team will play Sao Tome and Principe in their last group game of the qualifiers at home with a team largely made up of fringe players in the marginal team expected to make up the list of invited players.
