Mutual Benefit, NEM, Others Lift Stock Market Cap By N45.17 billion

Investors in Mutual Benefit, NEM, and others on the gainers’ list went home with N45.17 billion gain on Thursday, 4 May, after the Nigerian stock exchange grew by 0.15 per cent in value.

This led to the stock market capitalisation appreciating from N28.42 trillion on Wednesday, 3 May, to N28.47 trillion.

The All-Share Index rose to 52,290.75 ASI, after gaining 82.98 basis points, to rise from 52,207.77 ASI. 

Over 1.27 billion shares were traded on the exchange floor in 5,963 deals on Thursday, worth N7 billion. 

This contrasts with the 670.08 million shares investors paid N5.02 billion for in 6,254 deals on Wednesday.

Top five gainers 

  • Mutual Benefit’s share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.30kobo to N0.33kobo per share.      
  • NEM grew by N0.40kobo, up from N4.15kobo to N4.55kobo per share.      
  • CWG ended trading with N1.20kobo from N1.10kobo per share, rising by N0.10kobo.    
  • Ardova gained N1.55kobo to end trading at N19.85kobo, having opened with N18.30kobo per share.      
  • Prestige’s stock was up by 8.33 per cent, closing at N0.39kobo from N0.36kobo per share.        

Top five losers 

  • Linkage Assurance depreciated by 9.43 per cent, dwindling from N0.53kobo to N0.48kobo per share.         
  • McNichols also fell by 8.86 per cent to end trading at N0.72kobo, after opening at N0.79kobo per share.         
  • Redstar Express followed the same path, losing N0.22kobo after trading hours, to sell at N2.30kobo from N2.52kobo per share.         
  • UPL reported a decline of N0.15kobo from the previous day’s share price of N1.81kobo to end trading at N1.66kobo per share.         
  • Champion Brew share depreciated to N4 from N4.33kobo, after losing N0.33kobo during trading hours.         

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Transcorp reported 811.20 million shares, valued at N1.98 billion, were traded on its floor.       
  • Access Corporation recorded 219.36 million shares valued at N2.34 billion.        
  • Chams saw investors trade 30.99 million of its shares valued at N10.13 million.        
  • Zenith Bank recorded 24.90 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N597.32 million.         
  • Fidelity Bank reported 24.31 million shares, valued at N137.66 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
