Imo Guber: I Didn't Buy Form For Ihedioha - Amadi
Sam Amadi

Governorship aspirant under the Labour Party in Imo State, Dr Sam Amadi, has debunked reports that he obtained Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

Ihedioha, ex Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, is former governor of Imo State whose first tenure was truncated just after six months by a Supreme Court judgement that enthroned incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma who came a distant third place in the 2019 election.

Dr Amadi, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), had declared his intention to run for the office of the governor of Imo State and subsequently obtained the nomination forms within the week.

However, a report claimed that Ihedioha purchased the Labour Party (LP) nomination forms through Amadi.

Ihedioha had, on Monday, withdrawn from the governorship race under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The ex-governor, who had been cleared alongside another aspirant, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, announced his withdrawal from the race in a letter addressed to the PDP National Chairman, where he stated that he is making sacrifices for a consensus candidate to emerge as requested by the National Working Committee of the party.

Reacting to the report of obtaining the Labour Party form for Ihedioha, Amadi in a statement released on Thursday, said he bought the form for himself, adding that he has never been used as a front by any candidate and will never be.

The Arise News Analyst said he is guided by principle and is going into the race with the dream of creating a new Imo State.

His statement titled: “I didn’t Buy Form for Anyone”, reads: “Dr Sam Amadi can never buy form for any person in the world. All my life I have been authentic I have never been or ever will be a front.

“A man who refused the Director of Research of Atiku Presidential Campaign Council because of principle will he be the person who will buy form for someone else? Hogwash.

“As Margaret Thatcher said ‘This lady is not for turning’. Sam Amadi is not for turning. I bought my form for myself. In 2018 I bought my form for about N15m to contest for Governorship Primary under APGA and went through all the 27 LGAs presenting my vision of community prosperity. I wasn’t a front them for anyone. Now that I am a national figure I will be bending low to front for expiring politicians.

“Take this to the bank. Dr Sam Amadi is not for turning. I am real. I am in the race to achieve the dream of NEW IMO.

“Don’t mind those who are frightened because the people are up to choose the person who can best serve them.

“Let’s move on with New Imo. A New Imo is POssible,” Amadi stated.
