PDP Suspends Anyim, Fayose, Others For Anti-party Activities

PDP  Makes U-turn, Recalls Anyim, Fayose, Others, Cancels Ortoms's Invitation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, Prof Dennis Ityavyar, and Aslam Aliyu, PDP chieftain in Zamfara State, for anti-party activities.

The National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, disclosed this in a press statement released on Thursday.

He also listed former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, as part of the persons suspended.

He added that the suspension takes effect today, Thursday, 23rd March 2023.

The Party also said that it has referred the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom to the disciplinary committee for his actions against the party.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has after a very extensive review of the affairs of our Party in the country and under the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) referred the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom to the National Disciplinary Committee over his reported involvement in anti-party activities,” he said.

“The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our party across the country to remain united and focused at this critical time,” Ologunagba said.

Recall that Fayose had repeatedly blamed the PDP leadership for the party’s loss in the presidential election, saying the party was never prepared for the exercise.

He also did not campaign for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who is from northern Nigeria maintaining that reason that power should return to the southern part of the country.

He rather supported and worked for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Bola Tinubu, an action which said he does not regret.

Fayose recently declared that he is not desperate for any appointment and will never join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
