Stock Investors Lose N40.42bn, Oando, Japaul Gold Among Losers’ List

NGX: Investors Gain N313bn As ASI Rebound By 0.70%

About N40.42 billion was lost in the Nigerian stock market on Monday, 6 March 2023, as the equity capitalisation depreciated by -0.13 per cent.

This led to the market capitalisation dropping to N30.29 trillion, slightly from N30.33 trillion recorded on Friday, 3 March 2023.

The All-Share Index lost 74.21 basis points from the 55,679.78 ASI reported on Friday to close at 55,605.57 ASI.

Investors exchanged 123.54 million shares in 4,076 deals on Monday, worth N2.48 billion. 

It contrasted with the 730.60 million shares traded on Friday in 3,532 deals worth N2 billion.

Top five gainers  

  • Julius Berger’s share appreciated by N2.45kobo to rise from N24.50kobo to N26.95kobo per share       
  • Unity Bank grew by 9.26 per cent, up from N0.54kobo to N0.59kobo per share  
  • International Energy Insurance ended trading with N1.30kobo from N1.20kobo per share, rising by N0.10kobo.
  • Livestock gained 4.67 per cent to end trading at N1.12kobo, having opened with N1.07 per share.   
  • Chams’ stock was up by 4 per cent, closing with N0.26kobo from N0.25kobo per share  

Top five losers  

  • CWG depreciated by 7.14 per cent, dwindling from N0.98kobo to N0.91kobo per share.      
  • FTN Cocoa also fell by 6.67 per cent to end trading at N0.28kobo, after opening with N0.30kobo per share.    
  • Oando followed the same path, losing N0.20kobo after trading hours, to sell at N4.36kobo from N4.56kobo per share.      
  • Courtville reported a decline of 4.17 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.48kobo to end trading at N0.46kobo per share.      
  • Japaul Gold’s share depreciated to N0.28kobo from N0.29kobo, after losing 3.45 per cent during trading hours.       

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange  

  • Transcorp reported 11.79 million shares valued at N15.36 million were traded on its floor        
  • GTCO recorded 9.39 million shares valued at N248.30 million      
  • UBA saw investors trade 9.19 million of its shares valued at N79.04 million      
  • Oando recorded 8.35 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N36.77 million      
  • Fidelity Bank reported 6.44 million shares, valued at N33.18 million, exchanged investors’ hands
