Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido Shines At AFRIMA

Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and other Nigerian artists won big at the just-concluded 8th edition of the prestigious All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA.

Grammy award-winning Nigerian act, Burna Boy, again, proved that he’s truly the ‘African Giant, as he was adjudged the Best Act in Africa. He also won the Best Album of the Year award, beating the likes of South African Kabza De Small, and Didi B from Vote d’Ivoire, among others, to clinch the award.

Wizkid walked away with the Best Act in West Africa award, Davido (Best Male Act in African Inspirational Music), while Adekunle Gold won two awards – Best Act Group in African contemporary music and Best Act, Duo or Group in African Pop, featuring Davido. The best Female Act in West Africa award went to Guinean singer, Manamba Kanye.

The AFRIMA awards night was held at the 15,000 capacity Dakar Arena in Diamniadio, Senegal climaxed the four days festival of music to celebrate African music superstars.

The event featured performances from Nigerian Singer and Songwriter, Tiwa Savage, sensational singers, P Square, Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif and other African artists.

During a white party organized to herald the 8th edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Savage appraised the Senegalese women, saying they were indeed beautiful women.

She also disclosed in the course of her performance that she was visiting Senegal for the first time.

“I’m visiting Dakar for the first time, your country is so beautiful, even your women, I’m so glad my boyfriend is not here tonight.

“Senegalese women are beautiful but I’m not convinced about the jollof rice yet, you guys have to take me home for that tonight,” she said.

PSquare, Peter, and Paul Okoye, also gave an amazing performance, exciting their fans and apologizing for splitting for 6 years.

Paul said, “There was no P Square for 6 years, Mr P kept PSquare alive, Rude Boy kept PSquare alive. Thank you, guys, for the patience. We owe you guys an apology but even as we went apart, we kept the music alive”.
