Evbuomwan said EdoGIS was reformed by the Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to ease the process of land registration and management in the state.

He said, “Since the inception of EdoGIS land registration in Edo state has improved. In previous years registering lands in the state took one to three years.

“Since EdoGIS came on board in September 2018 to simplify the process of registering lands and getting lands Certificate of Occupancy through seamless digital compared to the past, it has eliminated fraudulent practices in land registration process.”

Evbuomwan said the agency had simplified land ownership registration process and had reduced the burden on landowners applying for land titles.

He explained  that the N3billion was generated between September 2018 and July 2021.

Evbuomwan said the state government was also making efforts to improve on the system by opening more zonal offices.

“EdoGIS plans to open zonal offices in strategic places in the state before the end of 2021, with a target to issue at least 10,000 C-of-Os yearly,” he said.

The MD stated that the seamless method adopted to get lands registered had opened the state for economic growth and also attracted investors.

“Edo State is now the destination for prospective investors due to the speedy access to documentation, tilting of lands, as well as guaranteed land property,” Evbuomwan said.
