Arsenal have made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign and they currently sit atop the Premier League table after 14 matches, five points clear of reigning champions, Manchester City.

The 25-year-old striker underwent successful surgery last week and there are fears that he could be ruled out until March, which has prompted suggestions of Arsenal going back to the transfer market for replacement.

The 25-year-old have now been declared unavailable and a replacement is required.

Speaking to reporters after Arsenal’s friendly win over AC Milan in the Dubai Super Cup, Arteta said: “We are looking and we are very active looking at the possibilities. If we can find the players that can strengthen the team we will try.”

Asked whether any players at the World Cup  caught his eye, the Spaniard added: “There are a few for sure, and a few national teams, what some of the national teams are doing is very interesting and it shows where the game is and how the game is evolving. Any individual player I will keep it to myself.”

Arsenal have been linked with a plethora of attacking players across Europe, but it is thought that striker Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk is their primary target heading into the new year.

The team will return to Premier League action with a home encounter against West Ham United on Boxing Day before concluding 2022 with a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on New Year’s Eve.
