Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has congratulated Governor Nyesom Wike on the occasion of his birthday.

Join our WhatsApp ChannelA statement by Onyebuchi Ememanka, Chief Press Secretary to Ikpeazu, said the governor described his Rivers State counterpart as “an icon of democracy, a bastion of courage and strength, an uncompromising fighter for justice and equity, a defender of due process, an apostle of sustainable development and above all, a beloved brother and dependable ally.”
He said that Governor Ikpeazu is of the view that in today’s Nigeria, Wike stands tall on issues that affect the country, especially democratic practices.
The governor thanked God for the gift of life to Wike and his roles in the nation’s democracy.
“The Governor prays the Almighty God to grant Governor Wike many more years of strength, character, conviction, courage and service to our fatherland.
“Governor Ikpeazu, on behalf of his family, the Government and People of Abia State, wishes Governor Wike a wonderful birthday and a prayer to God for sustainance of life,’ the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has also felicitated with Governor Wike on his 55th birthday.
In a tweet earlier on Tuesday, Atiku wished Wike many good things ahead.
He wrote: “As you turn 55 today, I pray that all lines fall in pleasant places for you. Enjoy your special day.”
This is despite their frosty relationship in recent times because of Wike’s disagreement with the party leadership over the continued stay in office by the party national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
The Rivers governor, who has been very vociferous about what he termed as injustice and lack of integrity by the leadership of the party, has been leading a group of governors of Enugu, Benue, Abia and Oyo States, known as G-5 or Integrity group. They have maintained a distance from Atiku’s presidential election.
They have been demanding the resignation of Ayu for the party’s national chairmanship position to be occupied by the South since the presidential candidate emerged from the north.
