The Flamingos scored their first goal in 16th minute through Bello whose header saw the ball squirm through the arms of the New Zealand keeper.

Miracle Usani doubled the lead in the 34th minute when she delivered a crossshot that completely deceived Aimee Feinburg Danielli in goal for New Zealand.

Taiwo Afolabi scored the third goal with a powerful shot that saw the ball sail into the top right corner in the 75th minute but had to wait for VAR to confirm there was no offside in the buildup while substitute Edidiong Etim made it 4-0 in added time after 90 minutes through another long range strike.

Despite the impressive showing of the Flamingos, they wasted lots of scoring chances and must work on improving on that when they face Chile on Monday.

The Chileans defeated New Zealand 3-1 in their first Group B match and will face Germany Friday night.
