Arteta Wins Barclays Manager Of August Prize

Arsenal’s superb start to the new season has seen Mikel Arteta rewarded with the Barclays Manager of the Month of August 2022 award, a feat he is achieving for the third time in his managerial career at the club.

The 40-year-old became only the second Arsenal manager after Arsene Wenger to start a season with five straight Premier League victories.

Their strong start to the season propelled them to the top of the table with a maximum 15 points.

Arteta’s latest Manager of the Month award follows his previous successes in September 2021 and March 2022.

He claimed his latest prize, beating Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola, Graham Potter and Marco Silva, after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.

Meanwhile ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Brentford, Arteta provided updates on several key players’ fitness on Friday.

The boss informed the press that no squad decisions will be made before Saturday’s training.

The Gunners’ game against Brentford kicks off 12pm on Sunday.
