Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

The Nigerian stock market lost N27.93 billion in value after the market capitalisation dipped -0.10%, to close at N26.74 trillion from N26.768 trillion.

All-Share Index dragged the market cap down after depreciating from 49,627.72 ASI to 49,575.93, shedding 51.79 basis points during trading.

Investors traded 197.45 million shares worth N2.94 billion in 3,462 deals, in contrast to the 160.24 million shares, valued at N1.48 billion, that was exchanged in 3,847 deals on Tuesday. 

Top five gainers

  • Regal Insurance share appreciated by 8 percent to rise from N0.25kobo to N0.27kobo per.
  • Associated Bus Company stock grew 7.14 percent, up from N0.28kobo to N0.30kobo per share.
  • Japaul Gold ended trading with N0.28kobo from N0.27kobo per share, rising by 3.70 percent.
  • Livestock gained 3.60 percent to end trading at N1.15kobo, having opened with N1.11kobo.
  • Honeywell Flour stock was up by 3 percent, closing with N2.40kobo from N2.33kobo per share. 

Top five losers

  • FTN Cocoa depreciated by 9.38 percent, dwindling from N0.32kobo to N0.29kobo per share.
  • Chams also fell by 9.09 percent to end trading at N0.30kobo, after opening with N0.33kobo per share.
  • Wapic followed the same path, losing 5.26 percent after trading hours, to sell at N0.36kobo from N0.38kobo per share.
  • Cutix reported a decline of N0.11kobo from previous day’s share price of N2.26kobo to end trading at N2.15kobo per share.
  • AIICO share depreciated to N0.55kobo from N0.57kobo, after losing 3.51 percent during trading hours.   

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

  • Courtville reported 87.14 million shares valued at N40.99 million were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 18.25 million shares valued at N360.25 million.
  • GTCO saw investors trade 9.48 million of its shares valued at N187.38 million.
  • Cornerstone recorded 9.35 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N5.70 million.
  • Sterling Bank reported 7.79 million shares valued at N11.69 million exchanged investors’ hands.
