Home-based Super Eagles Lose To Ghana, CHAN 2023 Chances Under Threat

Nigeria’s quest to qualify for a major tournament could suffer another blow as the home-based Super Eagles on Sunday evening lost 2-0 to the Black Galaxies of Ghana in the 2023 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers reports Prime Business Africa.

The next edition of the tournament specifically for players in their domesric leagues will hold in Algeria next year with sub regional qualification campaigns holding across Africa.

The Eagles coached by Salisu Yusuf started the better side and dominated the first half of the game but Ghana vastly improved in the second half following the introduction towards the end of the first half by the resourceful Daniel Abagna.

Daniel Afriye scored from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half while Seidu Suraj made it 2-0 in the 86th minute when he pounced on the rebound to slot home the ball after goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka faield to keep out a cross by Abagna.

The Eagles will need to score three unanswered goals to qualify for the tournament.
