President Buhari To Host Team Nigeria’s Commonwealth Games Contingent September 15

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to host the victorious Team Nigeria athletes that did the country proud at the recently concluded 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Thursday, 15 September 2022 reports Prime Business Africa.

The Nigerian contingent won a total of 35 medals; 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 14 Bronze in total to place 7th in the table.

The feat meant that Nigeria were the best African team.

The Youth and Sports Development minister, Sunday Dare disclosed the date for the presidential reception on Friday in Abuja.

The incredible 2022 Commonwealth Games performance is so far Nigeria’s best medals finish since it’s inception in 1950.

The minister also called on all sports loving philanthropists in the country to embrace the adopt-an-athlete initiative of the Ministry and join hands with government in the promotion of sports in Nigeria.

In behalf of the top Management Staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development as well as the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Dare thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for granting approval for the Presidential reception.
