England’s women football national team created history by winning their first major women’s tournament against arch-rivals and eight-time champions Germany with a 2-1 win at a sell-out Wembley Sunday evening.
Substitute Chloe Kelly scored the winner in extra-time at the packed stadium that harbored over 87,000 fans after Germany’s Lina Magull had set up a nervous ending by restoring parity, cancelling Ella Toone’s opener in normal time.
