July 12, 2022

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, have named the Super Falcons duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Osinachi Ohale in the CAF Team of the Group Stage at the ongoing 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Atletico Madrid forward Rasheedat Ajibade and Deportivo Alaves defender Osinachi Ohale have been two of Nigeria’s most prominent stars at Morocco 2022.

Ajibade has scored two of the Falcons’ seven goals, while Ohale has played her part in helping the team keep clean sheets in the team’s last two games.

Ajibade’s first goal arrived in the closing stages of the Super Falcons’ humbling 2-1 loss to South Africa on matchday one.

The 22-year-old then opened the scoring from the penalty spot and provided two fine assists in the 4-0 thrashing of Burundi on Sunday.

Despite Ajibade’s three-goal contribution, Ohale was voted the woman of the match after an excellent defensive performance.

The two brilliant Nigerians have joined nine others in CAF’s official team of the tournament so far.

Players from seven of the championship’s eight quarterfinalists made the team, with South Africa, Zambia, Morocco, and Nigeria providing two representatives each. Cameroon, Tunisia, and Botswana have one player in the group stage best XI.

Senegal will face Zambia for a place in the semifinals of the tournament and ultimately one of the four automatic berths at next year’s Women’s World Cup but has no player in the team released by CAF.
