Eguavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Head Coach

Super Eagles head coach Austin Eguavoen has stepped down from his position following the failure of the national team to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Black Stars of Ghana in the reverse leg of the playoffs after both teams settled for a scoreless draw in Kumasi making the Ghanaians the lucky side on the away goals rule.

Consequently the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation has terminated the appointments of the coaching crew and Eguavoen is now expected to evert to his primary job as the Technical Director of the Federation.

Emmanuel Amuneke who was brought in as Eguavoen’s assistant after the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon along with Joseph Yobo, Alloy Agu and Salisu Yusuf are all expected to step down.
