The absorbing game at Wembley saw both sides denied goals after VAR ruled out they thought could have been the winners.

Joel Matip latched unto a Sadio Mane nod-down but he fell foul of Virgil Van Dijk’s transgression who impeded an opponent while Chelsea substitute Romelu Lukaku marginally strayed offside when he put the ball behind the Reds’ net.

Of the 22 penalty kicks taken, 21 were scored but Arrizabalaga skied his effort wide to send the Meserysiders to delirium.
