Stock Market Rebounds With N288bn Gain, Transactions Drop To N37bn

The value of the Nigerian stock market increased to N158.61 trillion on Monday, from Friday’s N158.32 trillion.

While the market capitalisation grew by N288.43 billion, the all-share index (ASI) appreciated by 446.85 basis points, rising from 245,283.68 ASI to 245,730.53 index.

The market recorded N37.85 billion transactions, after traders exchanged 923.01 million shares in 72,544 deals, compared to the N46.73 billion traded for 942.97 million shares in 55,480 deals, on Friday.

Top Five Gainers

  • Eterna’s share price increased by N3.30 kobo, from N33 to N36.30 kobo per share.
  • Caverton share value grew by N0.50 kobo, from N5 to N5.50 kobo per share.
  • Omatek’s share appreciated by N0.16 kobo to end trading at N1.78 kobo, having opened with N1.62 kobo.
  • AVACAP’s share ended trading at N9.05 per share, from N8.25 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.80 kobo.
  • Vitaform share value was up by N14.20 kobo, after closing at N194, from N179.80 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Ecobank’s share price depreciated by N8.85 kobo, dwindling from N88.95 kobo to N80.10 kobo per share.
  • Cadbury recorded a N6.40 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N58.10 kobo, after opening with N64.50 kobo.
  • Thomas Wyatt’s reported a N0.43 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.95 kobo, after opening with N4.38 kobo per share.
  • Wapic lost N0.25 kobo in its share price, to sell at N2.30 kobo, down from N2.55 kobo per share.
  • CMFC reported a decline of N0.38 kobo, from the previous share price of N3.88 kobo, to end trading at N3.50 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 166.41 million shares valued at N4.41 trillion were traded on its floor.
  • Honeywell recorded 93.54 million shares valued at N1.64 trillion.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company saw investors trade 57.07 million of its shares valued at N455.39 million.
  • Universal Insurance recorded 51.82 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N45.77 million.
  • Chams reported that traders exchanged 33.78 million shares valued at N152.47 million.
