On Wednesday, the Nigerian stock market recorded N3.45 trillion increase in the capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

The market capitalisation surged from N152.13 trillion reported on Tuesday to N155.58 trillion.

This was driven by the 5,376.7 basis points gained by the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 237,083.28 ASI to 242,459.98 index.

Investors reduced their stock market transactions to N22.75 billion for 518.43 million shares in 48,495 deals on Wednesday, from the N28 billion exchanged for 493.67 million shares in 49,969 deals on Tuesday.

Top Five Gainers

  • TAJSUKS2’s share price increased by N24.99 kobo, from N75 to N99.99 kobo per share.
  • Airtel Africa’s share value grew by N527.40 kobo, from N5,274  to N5,801.40 kobo per share.
  • TrqnsExpress share appreciated by N0.27 kobo, to end trading at N2.97 kobo, having opened with N2.70 kobo.
  • Fidelity Bank’s share ended trading at N19.85 kobo per share, from N18.05 per share – indicating an increase of N1.80 kobo.
  • Thomas Wyatt’s share value was up by N0.27 kobo, after closing at N3, from N2.73 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • HMCall share price depreciated by N0.39 kobo, dwindling from N3.92 kobo to N3.53 kobo per share.
  • McNichols recorded a N0.60 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.15 kobo, after opening with N6.75 kobo.
  • Transnational Corporation reported a N2.40 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N40.05, after opening with N42.45 kobo per share.
  • FGSUK2031S4 lost N4.99 kobo in its share price, to sell at N90, down from N94.99 kobo per share.
  • CWG reported a decline of N1.05, from the previous share price of N20.05, to end trading at N19 per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Lasaco reported that 56.59 million shares valued at N104.79 million were traded on its floor.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 47.45 million shares valued at N911.91 million.
  • Linkage Assurance saw investors trade 33.90 million of its shares valued at N51.22 million.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 31.96 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N3.41 billion.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company reported that traders exchanged 30.47 million shares valued at N233.30 million.
