Northern Governors, Traditional Rulers Convene Emergency Security Meeting in Kaduna

Governors from Northern Nigeria and leading traditional rulers are holding an emergency security meeting in Kaduna as concerns over insecurity across the region continue to mount, Prime Business Africa reports.

 

The high-level meeting, hosted by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the Kaduna State Government House, brings together members of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Northern traditional rulers under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto.

The session is being chaired by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Gombe State Governor, .

 

Also attending are top federal security officials, including representatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Defence, the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), underscoring the Federal Government’s involvement in efforts to address the region’s security challenges.

The meeting has also drawn several prominent Northern figures, including former Inspectors-General of Police, retired senior military, police and paramilitary officers, as well as former Secretaries to the Government of the Federation.

 

The emergency session is expected to review the prevailing security situation across Northern Nigeria and explore coordinated strategies involving state governments, traditional institutions and federal security agencies to strengthen ongoing efforts to curb violence and restore stability in the region.
