NGX Market Cap Down N958bn After Losses In Aradel, Regal Insurance

Shareholders of Aradel, Regal Insurance and others on the losers’ list lost N958.50 billion in the Nigerian stock market on Thursday.

The loss was reflected in the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), which declined to N149.88 trillion, from Wednesday’s N150.84 trillion.

This was driven by the all-share index (ASI) dropping by 1,493.71 basis points to 233,580.83 ASI, from the previous day’s 235,074.54 index.

During trading hours, traders exchanged 393.64 million shares, valued at N19,21 billion, in 45,813 deals, compared to the 488.08 million shares, worth N20.92 billion, traded in 46,239 deals, on Wednesday.

Top Five Gainers

  • Redstar Express’ share price increased by N2.15kobo, from N22.40 kobo to N24.55 kobo per share.
  • Legend Internet’s share value grew by N0.50 kobo, from N5.50 kobo to N6 per share.
  • Neimeth’s share appreciated by N0.55 kobo, to end trading at N8.30 kobo, having opened with N7.75 kobo.
  • Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share ended trading at N8.70 kobo per share, from N8.25 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.45 kobo.
  • Ellah Lakes’s share value was up by N0.40 kobo, after closing at N9, from N8.60 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price depreciated by N86.06, dwindling from N200 to N113.93 kobo per share.
  • Aradel recorded a N175 decline in its share price to end trading at N1,575, after opening with N1,750.
  • Deap Capital recorded a N0.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.05, after opening with N4.50 kobo per share.
  • TransExpress lost N0.40 kobo in its share price, to sell at N3.64 kobo, down from N4.04 per share.
  • Regal Insurance reported a decline of 9.57 percent, from the previous share price of N0.94 kobo, to end trading at N0.85 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 39.05 million shares valued at N896.20 million were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 24.50 million shares valued at N96.48 million.
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 24.06 million of its shares valued at N436.92 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings recorded 23.74 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N182.19 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported that traders exchanged 18.93 million shares valued at N2.12 billion.
