Police Arrest 11 More Suspects Over Ozoro Assault, Total Now 15

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on suspects linked to the recent sexual assault incident in Ozoro, Delta State, announcing the arrest of 11 additional individuals, Prime Business Africa reports.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Command said the arrests followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, who mandated a thorough investigation into the disturbing events reported in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro.

According to the statement, the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) carried out an in-depth review of available video footage and actionable intelligence, leading to the apprehension of the additional suspects. Those arrested include Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, Evidence Oguname, and six others.

With the latest development, the total number of suspects in police custody in connection with the incident has risen to 15.

The Command stressed that preliminary investigations indicate the acts were carried out by criminal elements who took advantage of the situation to perpetrate sexual violence, noting that such actions do not reflect any legitimate cultural practice.

Condemning the incident, CP Adesola reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.

The police also called on members of the public, particularly victims and witnesses, to provide credible information to support ongoing investigations, assuring that all submissions would be handled with strict confidentiality.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on behalf of the Command.
