El-Rufai: Dadiyata’s Wife Appeals for Help

February 20, 2026

“We pray that one day, he will come back,” Kadijah, wife of missing lecturer Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, said in a video interview with Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri. She appealed to Nigerians to help find her husband, whose whereabouts remain unknown nearly seven years after he was abducted.

Dadiyata, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State, was reportedly taken by gunmen from his residence in Barnawa, Kaduna, on 2 August 2019. Kadijah said she watched the abduction from her window and has been seeking answers ever since.

The interview, released on Omokri’s X account on Thursday, saw him pledging support for Kadijah and her children, urging the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, to assist the family with housing, education, or employment.

The case resurfaced after former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai denied involvement, saying Dadiyata was primarily critical of the Kano State government rather than Kaduna. Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje also dismissed any links, insisting the abduction occurred entirely in Kaduna.
