“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” he said.

The President acknowledged the contributions of Christians to Nigeria’s social and national development, noting that Christian values inspired by the Gospel have driven acts of compassion, care for the vulnerable and efforts to promote peace and harmony in communities across the country.

Reflecting on his time in office since 2023, Tinubu said his government has remained resolute in its pledge to safeguard Nigeria’s security, unity and stability in line with the Constitution. He stressed that no Nigerian should be made to suffer because of ethnicity or religious belief, describing love for God and humanity as shared values that bind the nation together.

The President also disclosed that he had engaged leaders of Nigeria’s two major faiths throughout the year, especially amid concerns over religious intolerance and insecurity. According to him, the government will build on these engagements to strengthen collaboration with religious institutions, prevent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.

As Nigerians travel across the country for the festive period, Tinubu urged motorists to exercise patience and discipline on the roads, wishing travellers safe journeys and returns.

Expressing optimism about the future, the President said Nigeria would continue the task of nation-building with confidence in divine providence and collective strength, to create a country future generations can be proud of.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.
