The United States has imposed visa revocations and new entry restrictions on several individuals in Nicaragua accused of facilitating illegal migration into the country.

In a statement, the Department of State said the affected persons include owners, executives and senior officials of transportation firms, travel agencies and tour operators believed to be providing services that aid migrants seeking to enter the U.S. unlawfully.

The measures were taken under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which allows the government to bar the entry of individuals whose presence or activities could carry serious adverse foreign policy consequences.

According to U.S. authorities, investigations show that the entities linked to the sanctioned individuals have been enabling travel routes through Nicaragua, taking advantage of what Washington described as the Ortega administration’s “permissive-by-design” migration policies.

Officials say these policies contribute to regional instability and fuel irregular migration flows toward the United States.

The State Department said it is revoking valid visas and applying additional restrictions to ensure those involved cannot enter the country.

“The United States will not tolerate actions that undermine its national security or immigration laws,” the statement added, stressing that the government remains committed to holding accountable those who profit from illegal migration, disrupting smuggling networks and safeguarding the integrity of U.S. borders.
