Nigerian Troops Rescue 86 Hostages, Dismantle Boko Haram Camp in Borno

November 10, 2025

Nigerian Army troops have rescued 86 civilians, including men, women, and children, and destroyed a Boko Haram/ISWAP camp in a decisive operation along the Buratai–Kamuya axis of Borno State.

The operation, carried out on Sunday by soldiers of the 135 Special Forces Battalion, Buratai, followed a distress alert from surveillance cameras showing militants abducting civilians along the Buratai–Kamuya road.

Sources reported that troops at Echo 1 (Dutse Kura) came under heavy gunfire around 3:52 p.m., prompting a Quick Response Force to reinforce the position. The reinforcements successfully repelled the attack and pursued the fleeing terrorists into the Mangari axis, where the insurgents attempted to escape with vehicles carrying kidnapped civilians.

During the pursuit, the militants abandoned the vehicles, allowing troops to recover the captives and launch a search-and-rescue operation that uncovered a makeshift Boko Haram/ISWAP camp, which was subsequently destroyed.

  • 2 pickup vans and 1 tricycle loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
  • 38 jerry cans of PMS and 4 gallons of engine oil
