Soludo Extends Dominant Lead as APGA Surpasses 422,000 Votes in Anambra Governorship Election

November 9, 2025

Anambra State Governor and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has widened his commanding lead in the 2025 governorship race after updated figures from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),  placed him at 422,664 votes with final declarations yet to be announced.

The new totals show the All Progressives Congress (APC) at 99,445 votes, the Labour Party (LP) at 37,753 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at 10,576 votes, further cementing Soludo’s position as the clear frontrunner.

These cumulative figures update the earlier subtotal derived from results officially announced in 21 LGAs, where APGA had already built a wide margin. The LGA-by-LGA breakdown of the 21 declared areas remains unchanged, with APGA securing sweeping victories across key population centers including Awka South, Onitsha North, Idemili North, and Ogbaru.

Despite reports of isolated vote-buying allegations from some opposition figures, observers noted that voting was largely peaceful across the state’s 5,720 polling units.

INEC is expected to declare the final results and make an official announcement once state collation concludes in Awka.
