Woodhall Capital Targets $50 Billion to Accelerate Nigeria’s Development

November 4, 2025

Woodhall Capital, led by its founder and chief executive officer, Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu, has unveiled an ambitious plan to attract $50 billion in global investments to drive large-scale development projects across Nigeria.

Hunponu-Wusu, in a recent interview, said the initiative is part of the firm’s strategy to mobilize international capital and deepen investor confidence in Nigeria’s economic potential.

A major milestone in this effort was a pre-investor forum held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, which brought together representatives from all 36 states, global investors, and development finance institutions (DFIs).

The company plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Forum of State Investment Promotion Agencies (FoSIPAN) and the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to strengthen collaboration at both sovereign and sub-sovereign levels. It is also launching a multi-city investment roadshow in London, Dubai, and potentially Abu Dhabi to expand financing opportunities.

“At the Abuja forum, we showcased the vast investment potential across Nigeria and emphasized the critical role of African Direct Investments (ADIs) in fostering self-reliance and boosting investor confidence among indigenous stakeholders,” Hunponu-Wusu said.

Woodhall Capital has also expanded its presence in major financial centres such as London and Dubai, where it has established offices to enhance engagement with investors and host governments.

Discussions at the Abuja forum focused on identifying viable investment opportunities and promoting Nigeria’s economic growth potential.

Hunponu-Wusu stressed the importance of national pride and intra-African trade, calling for greater collaboration among African nations. “When we invest in ourselves, we send a powerful message to the world about our confidence and capabilities,” she said.

Over 400 participants, including senior officials from the Office of the Vice President, financial institutions, and investment groups, attended the event, a sign of growing appetite for cross-border collaboration in trade and investment.

She commended the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for its active role in supporting indigenous firms in projecting Nigeria’s investment narrative, adding that “Africa is ready for meaningful investment dialogue.”

Hunponu-Wusu also acknowledged the improving investment climate under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, noting that governments across Africa are becoming more receptive to strategic partnerships. “Africa is rich in talent and resources, and this environment encourages firms like ours to pursue global investment opportunities,” she said.

A major highlight of the firm’s development strategy is the Woodhall Africa Trade Gateway, a digital platform developed in partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to facilitate intra-African trade. Described as an “African Amazon,” the platform will serve as a marketplace for sourcing commodities within the continent.

Hunponu-Wusu also used the occasion to encourage young African women to focus on value creation and professional growth. “Recognition comes from genuine contributions, whether at home or in the workplace,” she advised.

As part of its broader national engagement, Woodhall Capital plans to visit all 36 Nigerian states to assess investment prospects and work with state governments in presenting these opportunities to global investors.

According to Hunponu-Wusu, the initiative is designed to spotlight the unique economic potential of each state and promote inclusive, sustainable development across Nigeria.
