Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Hon. Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), succeeding Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo.

The appointment was announced on Monday through a special statement from the Ministry of Information and Communications, signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Honour Kuru Sirawoo.

According to the statement, Anabraba was sworn in at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Anabraba, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and ex-Commissioner for Lands and Survey, is expected to play a key coordinating role in the Fubara administration’s policy implementation drive.

His appointment comes amid continued political realignments in the state following months of tension between Governor Fubara and loyalists of his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The new SSG is expected to support the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, tackle oil theft, and enhance revenue generation in the oil-rich state.

Governor Fubara has in recent months reshuffled parts of his cabinet and reconstituted key offices as part of what insiders describe as a bid to consolidate administrative control and stabilize governance after the protracted political crisis earlier in 2025.
