24-hour ‘Unofficial’ Curfew In Nigeria’s North Central State

Niger State has witnessed series of abductions by bandits in recent times, the most prominent being massive kidnap of pupils at the Government Science College, Kagara

Twenty-four-hour  curfew has been declared in Nigerian town of Kagara,  headquarters of Rafi Local Council of Niger State, and  environs following  increased banditry and random attacks.

The action came hours after Chief of Army Staff ,  General Faruk Yahaya warned soldiers in the area to guard against operational lapses in anti-banditry  and terrorism fight.

An indigene of the area, who pleaded anonymity, told Prime Business Africa that as at 10am on Saturday  February 5, 2022, a team of Nigerian soldiers had arrived the town and instructed every one to go back to their houses.

He also said, there was rumour of bandit attacks in the town, adding that,at present the entire Rafi and environs remain in 24-hour curfew

Though as at the time of filing this report, details of the Curfew remained  sketchy efforts to confirm the report from the spokesman of the Niger State Police Command ,DSP Wasiu Abiodun was unsuccessful.

The people of the  area advised motorists plying Kagara and Pandogari Road to stay way from the route for their safety.
