Okoye Concedes Four Goals In 4-0 Drubbing To Feyenoord

Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was at the receiving end of a 4-0 hiding on Sunday afternoon as his Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam lost heavily to Feyenoord at the Stadion Feijenoord.

The game was Okoye’s first league game in goal for his team after the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. He has let in 24 goals in total in the league this season where he is on loan for the remainder of the season before he heads to struggling Premier League team Watford.

 

Okoye will link up with three other Nigerian players at Vicarage Road – William Troost Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo and Samuel Kalu.

Feyenoord’s goals were scored by Guus Berend Til (brace), Alizera Jahanbachanck and Okun Kocku.

Okoye was widely condemned by sections of Nigerian fans over the round of 16 defeat to Tunisia in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

One-cap Super Eagles striker Cyreil Dessers who was overlooked for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon made his 16th league appearance in the game when he came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace Bryan Linssen.

Dessers has scored four league goals so far this 2021/2022 season.
