Amanze ChinonyeThe Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), succeeding Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
CSP Hundeyin, a seasoned communicator and law enforcement officer, holds a BA (Hons) in English Language from Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He also obtained a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.

Professionally, Hundeyin has served in key roles across the Nigeria Police Force. He was the Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos; Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja; and most recently, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command. He was also part of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in 2020, bringing international peacekeeping experience to his career profile.

Confirming the appointment in Abuja, the outgoing Force PRO, DCP Adejobi, described Hundeyin as a dedicated officer with the expertise to build on recent efforts at improving the Force’s public image.
The Inspector-General of Police tasked Hundeyin to leverage his background in communications and security psychology to strengthen the Force’s relationship with the Nigerian public. “This appointment reflects the importance we place on credible communication, accountability, and professionalism. CSP Hundeyin is expected to further institutionalize these values,” the IGP stated.
Hundeyin’s appointment comes at a time when the Nigeria Police Force is under intense public scrutiny over accountability, trust, and service delivery. His communication expertise, international peacekeeping experience, and professional affiliations are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping how the Force engages with citizens, counters misinformation, and projects transparency. For many Nigerians, how he manages the police’s image in the months ahead could influence public confidence in law enforcement.
Hundeyin officially assumes office with immediate effect.
