Lasaco, Guinea Insurance Extend NGX’s Downward Trend

On Friday, August 29, the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) reported a N165.61 billion loss in the stock market capitalisation, after it dropped to N88.76 trillion, from N88.93 trillion on Thursday, August 28.

The bourse also closed with a 140,295.49 all-share index (ASI), which declined from the 140,557.24 ASI reported the previous day, indicating a decrease of 261.75 basis points.

Furthermore, the value of trades conducted dropped to N10.39 billion, as traders exchanged 435.14 million shares in 25,609 deals, against the N28.30 billion reported on Thursday, when 885.02 million shares were traded in 26,163 deals.

Top five gainers

  • Learn Africa’s share price increased by N0.70 kobo, to rise from N7.10 kobo to N7.80 kobo per share.
  • Union Dicon’s share value grew by N0.90 kobo, from N11.20 kobo to N12.10 kobo per share.
  • Prestige ended trading at N1.74 kobo per share, from N1.63 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.11 kobo.
  • Academy gained N0.55 kobo to end trading at N9.55 kobo, having opened with N9.
  • Omatek’s share value was up by N6.06, after closing at N1.40 kobo from N1.32 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • John Holt’s share price depreciated by N0.70 kobo, dwindling from N7 to N6.30 kobo per share.
  • Lasaco recorded a N0.32 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3 after opening with N3.32 kobo per share.
  • Lotus Hal15 lost N6.61 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N63.10 kobo from N69.71 kobo per share.
  • Guinea Insurance reported a decline of N0.12 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N1.54 kobo to end trading at N1.42 kobo per share.
  • Universal Insurance recorded a 6.25 percent decline in its share price to end trading at N1.20 kobo after opening with N1.28 kobo per share.

  • VFD Group reported that 49.29 million shares valued at N542.20 million were traded on its floor.
  • NSLTECH recorded 33.17 million shares valued at N28.81 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 26.85 million of its shares valued at N716.97 million.
  • GTCO recorded 21.33 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.96 billion.
  • First HoldCo reported that 19.93 million shares valued at N646.66 million were exchanged by investors.
