The 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) in Nigeria generated a combined total of N1.10 trillion in the first half of 2025.
This was revealed in the latest report released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

This represents a significant growth, driven primarily by tariff increases and improved collection efficiency amid ongoing sector reforms.
Analysis of the data shows that the DisCos recorded a total revenue of N178.68 billion in January, N191.75 billion in February, N188.89 billion in March, N199.85 billion in April, N191.57 billion in May and N182.11 billion in June 2025.
Recent tariff hikes, approved by regulatory authorities, have boosted revenue generation, though challenges like collection losses and infrastructure deficits persist.
However, according to the NERC report, the total amount generated comes from the N1.486 trillion in electricity that the DisCos charged their customers.
This means that there was a collection shortfall of N385.43 billion.

Eko Electricity Distribution (EKEDC) collected the highest revenue of N207.14 billion from the N244.08 billion it billed its customers.
This was followed by Ikeja Electric, which collected N193.46 billion from the N256.74 billion billed to its customers, and the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) with N176.81 billion from the N225.92 billion billed to its customers.
Others include the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), which generated N122.81 billion from N160.52 billion in power supplied to its customers, and the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), which collected N103.92 billion from N125.3 billion supplied. Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) collected N90.51 billion of the N113.74 billion bill it issued to its customers.
Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) collected only N76.73 billion out of the N118.53 billion billed to customers, while Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KedCo) recovered N54.55 billion from the N87.49 billion billed to its customers, and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) collected N33.37 billion from the N73.37 billion billed to its customers.
Kaduna Electric collected N24.38 billion from the N50.4 billion it issued, while Yobe Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) received N17.49 billion from the N30.51 billion bill.
