Olubadan Of Ibadanland Dies At 90

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away.

The monarch joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday, 7 July 2025,  two days after marking his 90th birthday.

He spent one year on the throne.

Oba Olakulehin was born on 5 July 1935, into the Okugbaja family in the Ita Baale area of Ibadan.

He ascended the throne after the death of Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died at the age of 81 on 14 March 12024.

He was officially presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on 12 July 2024, becoming the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He was initially rumoured to have died in March but the Oyo state government dismissed the claims.
