Liverpool to face Bournemouth in season opener

Premier League Champions, Liverpool, will begin their title defence in the 2025-26 season against Bournemouth, the full season fixtures released on Wednesday has revealed.

The new season begins on Friday, 15 August, the Reds welcoming “The Cherries” just as second-place finishers, Arsenal, visit Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Newly promoted Sunderland, back in the top flight for the first time since 2016-17, start their campaign at home against West Ham the following day.

Championship winners, Leeds, welcome Everton to Elland Road for the Monday night game, while Burnley, back to the top flight, travel to Europa League holders Tottenham, who will be led by Thomas Frank in a league match for the first time.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will hope to bounce back from a rare trophy-less season with a strong start against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

The Citizens are, in the meantime, competing in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup and hoping to defend their title here.

Manchester City thrashed Fluminense 4-0 to clinch the Club World Cup in 2023.

The 2025/2026 Premier League season, which consists of 380 games over 33 weekends and five midweek rounds, will conclude on Sunday, 24 May.

Everton, who have handed over old but popular Goodison Park to Everton Ladies, will be eager to begin action at their Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Toffees will, however, wait till the second week to officially host the first match at the new stadium against Brighton on August 24.
